Risk & analysis methodology

Effective October 15, 2026.

Options involve risk

Options are complex instruments. Losses may be substantial and, depending on the strategy, may exceed the initial investment. Assignment, exercise, liquidity, volatility, and margin requirements can materially affect results. Read the Options Clearing Corporation's Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options and your broker's disclosures.

The sample is synthetic

The built-in Put Credit Spread, Iron Condor, and Covered Call ledgers consist of invented dollar P&L values, with four entries per month from January 2024 through December 2025. They are fixtures for demonstrating the interface, not outcomes from market data or an actual strategy. The strategy names are illustrative labels. They do not establish executable rules, position sizes, underlying instruments, or achievable performance.

Calculation rules

Every analysis starts with $25,000. Net P&L per trade equals the supplied P&L less the added cost selected in the interface. The equity curve adds each closed trade's net P&L in chronological order without reinvestment. Total return equals ending equity divided by starting capital, minus one. Winning-trade percentage counts strictly positive net trades divided by all closed trades; break-even trades remain in the denominator. Profit factor divides summed positive net P&L by the absolute sum of negative net P&L. Infinity means positive gains with no losses; a dash means no gains or losses.

Drawdown & chart limits

Maximum drawdown is the greatest decline from a previous peak in the closed-trade equity series, divided by that peak. It does not measure intratrade or mark-to-market drawdown and can understate real risk. Chart spacing represents trade sequence, not elapsed calendar time. The Last 12M filter includes trades after the anniversary of the most recent close date, and restarts capital at $25,000 for that subset.

CSV assumptions

Required columns are close_date (YYYY-MM-DD) and pnl (plain dollar amount). Each row is treated as one closed strategy trade. P&L is treated as gross; if your file is already net of all costs, set added cost to $0 to avoid double-counting. The tool does not infer account capital, normalize risk, reconstruct positions, validate fill prices, or account for deposits and withdrawals. Different position sizes or starting capital can make results incomparable.

What is not modeled

The preview does not model bid-ask spreads, executable fills, position sizing, fees beyond the selected assumption, taxes, assignment, exercise, dividends, financing, margin, liquidity constraints, or open-position losses. Historical or hypothetical results, when eventually published, cannot assure future performance. No genuine strategy backtest or live track record is currently published here.

Before publishing actual research

Future strategy reports should document the data provider and licensing, tested instruments, sample period, complete trading rules, sizing, cost and slippage model, corporate-action treatment, out-of-sample validation, and limitations. The service's commercial broker access and any applicable financial-services obligations must be assessed before live execution is offered.
